What is a Loonie?
In Canada we give our money nick-names like Toonies and Loonies. A Loonie represents a $1.00 coin which replaced our $1.00 bill back in 1987. The reason we give the coin the name Loonie is mainly because of the Loon bird used as the coins design.
What is a Toonie?
The Toonie replaced the $2.00 bill in February 19, 1996 and is now a coin with the image of an adult polar bear by the lake. we gave it the name Toonie, because of its similarities with the Loonie.
